Confidentiality and Privacy

Everything we discuss is completely confidential and cannot normally be shared with others, with two exceptions: where you disclose a safeguarding issue or involvement in human trafficking or money laundering; and in my own regular one-to-one supervision with another qualified therapist. This is also confidential and is a requirement of my professional body, the BACP. I will always tell you in advance if I am needing to share something we’ve discussed.

Personal information is stored securely and confidentially. Personal details such as your name, address and phone number are kept separately from session notes which are only identified by a code. Relevant emails are deleted after use. Personal information is kept and used in a safe and ethical manner in line with data protection regulations. Information is not shared with other people without your consent unless a legal obligation is disclosed (as above). You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information in paper format and to ask me to amend or change any incorrect information about you. You also have the right to ask me to erase any personal information that is no longer relevant to original purposes, or if you wish to withdraw consent. In all cases and when considering such requests, these rights are obligatory unless it is information that I have a legal obligation to retain. My Insurance Company currently requires that I store relevant information for 5 years. All records and personal information held are disposed of in a manner which ensures confidentiality.

Cancellations and ‘no-shows’

Normally, therapy is weekly and ideally takes place at the same time and on the same day each session, though this can sometimes be flexible by discussion.

Planned absences (for holidays, medical appointments etc) are of course normal (for you and for me). However, if you find that you cannot attend your regular session unexpectedly for any reason, I ask for as much notice as possible.

Cancellation within 24 hours of a session may incur the session fee.
